This is perfect for one to take on a 2-3 day trip!
It is the lightest bear canister out there. locking mechanism is neat. Fits into my 40 liter pack without problems. It withstood a black bear that came to our camp and stole my friend's bear bag.

The Soloist is good for a 2-day hike while the Champ is good for a week's worth.
I have two-101 models and one-102 model container and they both work well for packing and storage. Have not had a bear attack my food supply but as long as I am in compliance with the National Parks these items are what is needed. The Soloist is good for a 2-day hike while the Champ is good for a week's worth. If you are going to camp in an established camp ground in the back country (Yosemite), just use the storage boxes you find at the camp ground. If you are going where there are no food storage boxes you will need one guaranteed. Read, ask, get the information about the area you plan to visit. The requirements vary greatly from location to location. BTW, Yosemite does not authorize bear spray.

The Bare Boxer Contender is very convenient!
The Bare Boxer Contender is very convenient. It's small enough to pack easily, but big enough for a few days food. It hits the sweet spot.

Holds more food than you think!
Holds more food than you think, fits down inside my pack, solid locking mechanism, and on the approved list. Great product.

LOVE IT, it is just the right size for one!
LOVE IT, it is just the right size for one, a must in the ADK's due to really smart bears!!! At first I balked at the weight of carrying food in one of these, but now I love it, no more frustration trying to find a tree to hang, or getting your hanging rope caught, or getting into camp late and scrambling to secure your food. Love it, I just edited something else from my pack to adjust for the weight. They are great camp stools too! We have one in each size for long trips... naturally my husband carries the larger one LOL

This is the perfect canister for me!
The locking mechanism is first class -- awesome design. The solo is just the right size to barely fit 3 days of food for me, and at 1.6lbs it's relatively light. I highly recommend.

Excellent product. Opens easily. Packs well.
Flattened sandwiches fit perfectly. In all a very efficient way to use the volume. Only complaint is the black color. Just like with clothing, black is the worst possible color for outdoors it gets too hot in the sun and freezes too fast when cold. Better colors would be white (coolest), or maybe orange (for visibility)

This is the lightest and cheapest canister around.
It's also the smallest, which is the only con. Just right for a one or two day trip. Quality construction and a very secure locking mechanism.

This seemed to be the best option for size and price in the black hard-plastic design.
If I need more space because of longer trips or more people, I will just buy another and let someone else carry as well.

The weight to space ratio of this canister is less favorable than other canister manufacturers.
HOWEVER, this is the lightest approved bear canister currently on market, and fits into smaller packs well, which is a huge plus. It is perfect for weekend backpacking trips where you won't need that extra space- I manage to fit 2 persons worth of food in there. It is smaller, so does not make as comfortable a seat as the Garcia or BearVault. Overall, I highly recommend it.

The Bare Boxer Contender is small enough to fit in any small overnight pack.
This small solo bear canister is the perfect companion on any weekend trip. It's not oversized and fits right into your pack unlike most other oversized bear canisters.
